New Beginnings

As the title suggests, it's been a whirlwind period of change and new things in our household, hence the lack of blogging (although there's been no lack of wine, I assure you).

In the last few weeks my eldest has started school, G has started a new job after 5 years working solo and X Factor is back on TV (again?!) which means that autumn and Christmas are definitely on their way.

Anyway, new beginnings and new routines which we are all slowly starting to get used to.  Good luck to everyone going back to school.....hopefully this pair below will help ease the tiredness and occasional tantrum (from the kids of course...?!).

PS We also have two new members of the household in the form of guinea pigs…….seemed like a good idea at the time.

Currently in the fridge…..

2017 Cune Rioja Blanco
Waitrose, £10.99

Anyone who knows me will know that I love white Rioja, especially one that has been fermented and aged in a barrel, this gives a wonderful, toasty and buttery richness to the wine. CVNE is the name of the producer and they are up there with one of the best and most traditional in the region having produced wines in Rioja for over 200 years (their red is delicious too). This is a complex white with tons of citrus, peach, toast and creamy richness. A lovely autumnal white.

On the rack (with a glass on the go as I type)

Yarra Valley Pinot Noir (Extra Special range)
Asda, £7.99

I have been enjoying a lot more red wine lately as the air has gotten that little bit chilly and actually bought this on a whim yesterday despite my attempt at a dry week, I do love Pinot Noir. This particular drop is extremely easy to drink and is a lovely week night wine. Super fruity but very elegant and soft on the palate, packed with ripe red cherries, strawberries and plums. Yarra Valley is renowned for top quality Pinot Noir and this one is no exception.
